Holding Deposit

A sum equivalent to one week's rent is payable as an initial Holding Deposit on a property to rent. Should the Landlord subsequently pull out of the letting prior to contracts being signed then the Holding Deposit is returned to the Tenant. Should the letting proceed to contract being signed by both Landlord and Tenant then the one week Holding Deposit is put towards the first month's rental payment.

Security Deposit

A Security Deposit equivalent to five week's rent is payable prior to contracts being signed on a letting. Some Landlords accept a Deposit Replacement Scheme instead of a Deposit.
